Welcome to the Brunswick Main Street E Newsletter. You are being sent this quarterly newsletter because you have expressed an interest in the Main Street community. We welcome your input. Please send news and information to Patrick Kay at brunswickms@gmail.com or call 301-834-5591

From the Main Street Board Chair

Summer is almost over, folks are finishing up their vacations and things should be getting back to normal. For me, Fall is my favorite time of year. The leaves change the landscape into a beautiful mix of colors, the crispness in the air, apples, and let’s not forget football. These are things I look forward to even though I know winter is just around the corner.

Looking forward for Main Street, we are starting to gear up for our Membership drive beginning in September. The Organization Committee has been busy putting this campaign together. Look for our kick off in the near future. If you currently are a member, thank you very much and I hope we provide value to you as a member. If you are not, please consider joining. Your membership helps the program to continue. By being a member you will receive various benefits as outlined in our brochure entitled, “Become Part of the Vision”. Please approach any board member and we will see that you receive this brochure.

On another note, in July we held our first annual Red, White and Brew. We had about 160 folks attend. Great food, prepared by Charlie Smith and gang, great music and great fellowship were enjoyed by all.. Thanks Charlie for giving of your time and thanks to all for making this event successful. We also held our 5th Annual Meeting. Each year it just gets better and better. We had the local food establishments in downtown prepare food and we served a Main Street 5th Anniversary cake. Everyone that attended seemed to have a great time. Patrick’s presentation was made from the heart. If this didn’t motivate everyone there to make Main Street and Brunswick a better place nothing will. I need to recognize Jerry Knight of Cripple Creek Antiques as our volunteer of the year. If you are reading this, it means Jerry has put it together and is instrumental in getting this out to you. He does a lot of “behind the scenes” activities for us. Thanks Jerry for all of your hard work and for keeping us straight!

Last of all, I extend a big thank you to all of the volunteers that have helped us out each week and month at all of our events and meetings. As everyone knows, the volunteers are the life blood of any organization, without you we are nothing. I continue to be proud of all the accomplishments and hard work that goes into everything with Main Street. If you currently are not volunteering and would like to, please see one of the board members or Patrick. We have various needs from help in the office to serving on our board. Thanks and have a great “what’s left” of Summer and I will see you downtown this fall amongst the falling leaves.
