Potomac Street Mile Race

September 4th, 2010

The 6th Annual Potomac Street Mile will take place on Saturday September 4,  2010.  This event was the first event ever sponsored by Brunswick Main Street and it has grown each year,  both in quality and quantity.   Last year over 160 runners took part in the family friendly event that brings people to Brunswick from the surrounding area.

The race is divided into three divisions.  The “Fun Run” (no awards) will start at 5 pm.  The elementary and middle school division will follow at about 5:15 pm and the high school, adult race will then follow at about 5:30 pm.  Registration will open at 3:30 pm at square corner park.

All runners will get an attractive Potomac Mile T-Shirt, refreshments , ice cream from Mommer’s Dinner and awards.  Lively DJ music will be played in the square corner park during the event.  Reasonable entrance fees starting at $6 for the fun run up to $15 for adults will be charged.

This year the race is moved to a late day event so that the early morning quiet of the neighborhood can be respected and a new feature of a pizza party in the park can be offered with the help of Kings Pizza.

Weather you are a serious competitor or a fun runner there is something for all who come out and take part in this event to promote the downtown and give all a healthy fun event.  The course record is 4:32 set last year by Justin Fritzius and 5:52 set in 08 by Sara Fisher a former Brunswick High runner.

Race information and applications can be obtained at Brunswick City Hall, If The Shoe Fits shoe store in Frederick or from the Main Street web site , brunswickmainstreet.org.
