Freezin’ for a Reason
January 1st, 2011
Held every year on the first day of the new year at the Brunswick Campground by the Brunswick Area Recreation Council (BARC), this fundraiser is only for the boldest of characters. This event is designed to show your support and courage by plunging into the icy waters of the Potomac River and raise money for local charities and non profits that work so hard throughout the year to give back to the community of Brunswick. If you feel so inclinded to put your body in utter shock from 40 degree almost frozen water then sign up and help Brunswick and show the world how clinically insane you really are. However if you think this is crazy, but you want to watch, please come down and watch from the less chilly dry banks of the Potomac along side the Brunswick Ambulance Company (who’s there just in case….).
Join us this next year January 1st, 2011
We are seeking participants now so please consider coming on board as a river plunger. Ask your friends, families, and co workers to sponsor you. If jumping into bone chilling water in the middle of winter is not for you then please consider sponsoring someone who will.
There will be free t shirts for all participants and awards will be given to the top three pledge raisers along with an award for the best costume. Hot drinks and cookies, and a heated shelter will be provided for all event participants and attendees. What better way is there to start the New Year than to help the organizations that provide volunteer services to the community?
Call Lee Zumbach at 301- 834-8045 if you have questions.
