Freezin' for a Reason
January 1st, 2010
We are happy to announce that Brunswick Main Street will once again partner with the Brunswick Area Recreation Commission to produce Brunswick’s own polar bear plunge “Freeezin for a Reason” on New Year’s Day 2010.Start the first day of the year out with a fun afternoon by coming down to the Brunswick City Campground and support those who are brave enough to take the icy plunge into the chilly waters of the mighty Potomac River as they raise money for worthy causes.
We are seeking participants now so please consider coming on board as a river plunger. Ask your friends, families, and co workers to sponsor you. If jumping into bone chilling water in the middle of winter is not for you than please consider sponsoring someone who will.
The proceeds will go to The Brunswick Food Bank, the Brunswick Area Recreation Commission, and Brunswick Main Street. There will be free t shirts for all participants and awards will be given to the top three pledge raisers along with an award for the best costume. Hot drinks and cookies, and a heated shelter will be provided for all event participants and attendees. What better way is there to start the New Year than to help the organizations that provide volunteer services to the community?
