Promotion sells a positive image of the commercial district and encourages consumers and investors to live, work, shop, play and invest in the Main Street district. By marketing a district’s unique characteristics to residents, investors, business owners, and visitors, an effective promotional strategy forges a positive image through advertising, retail promotional activity, special events, and marketing campaigns carried out by local volunteers. These activities improve consumer and investor confidence in the district and encourage commercial activity and investment in the area.
The Promotions Committee for Brunswick Main Street is responsible for all activities that promote community and activity in the downtown area. This committee for years has brought First Friday Night on the Town to Downtown Brunswick every first Friday, every month. As chair of this committee, Mary Jo Brown has been instrumental in activites such as Pet-a-palooza, Ride On, Old Time 4th, Beach Party, and the Great Outdoors. With this committee we will also see events like Taste of the Town, North Pole Stroll and the Hometown Holidays. Let’s not forget that the Famers’ Market is also put on by this committee. Entertainment during the 2009 summer in Square Corner Park was brought to you by the Maryland State Arts Council and PNC Bank.
