Our Mission

Our mission is to revitalize downtown Brunswick as an attractive and lively city center. We will protect our historic architecture, strengthen our businesses, preserve our parks and green spaces, and honor our history.

Our Vision

Our vision for Brunswick is a downtown that is the focal point of entertainment, shopping, and tourism for the community. It is a downtown that residents take pride in and visitors want to experience. People are drawn here by the friendly people, beautiful historic buildings, an attractive downtown park, clean sidewalks and streets, and a variety of shops with unique offerings and ample parking. Downtown Brunswick has a charm that is rooted in its railroad, canal and river heritage. A Victorian era train depot, the remains of a C&O canal lock, a scenic riverfront, and a renowned railroad museum are destination points for residents and visitors. People come from near and far to experience this special place.

Our vision for downtown is a lively place where events and other activities are always going on. It is common to see folks stroll the streets, shop, dine outside, listen to music, or walk down to the river on a summer night. It is an exciting downtown, where people feel safe, friends meet, and the community comes together to celebrate our heritage throughout the year. This improved and revitalized downtown area has benefited not only merchants; it has improved the quality of life for everyone who lives, works, or visits here.

Volunteering

The Main Street approach is centered on having a pool of dedicated volunteers who carry out the goals and objectives of the program. You can give your time in several ways—either by joining one of our four committees or helping out with projects and special events from time to time. The volunteer opportunities are only limited by the time and effort that a member feels comfortable in donating to Brunswick Main Street. We can always use your help.
