Brunswick
offers shopping, historical sites, museums, dining, and recreational
activities.
History - The
town has a rich history tied to the Potomac River, the C&O Canal,
and the
railroad. Its heritage has earned the

example of a
late 19th and early 20th century railroad town. The

Brunswick and the C&O Canal Visitors Center operates downtown. Visitors can also learn about Brunswick’s
rich history at the Brunswick Railroad
Museum. The museum hosts Heritage Weekends and
Victorian Christmas.
Shopping & Activities - As
visitors stroll through the historic downtown, they can find a variety
of new
shops, businesses, and services.
The
resurgence of interest in the historic district has brought a
bookstore, coffee
shop, specialty shops, several antique shops,
sporting goods stores, restaurants, and more. Parks,
historic landmarks, and museums
are also popular draws
downtown. A growing arts community is
also emerging in Brunswick. Visitors can also enjoy
performances throughout the year and musical groups during special
events.
Recreational Opportunities -
Because
the Potomac River is only a short walk from the downtown shops,
recreational
opportunities abound. With close
proximity to downtown, the waterfront offers fishing, boating, camping,
kayaking, and canoeing. The C&O
Canal towpath is excellent for hikers, bikers, and horseback riders.
Events - Brunswick
celebrates its heritage through annual festivals, parades, and events.
